Book dedicated to Kalpana released in Kannada

BANGALORE: Kaksheyalli Bharata, a Kannada book on space technology in the country that traces the history and lists the achievements of the Indian space odyssey was released in Bangalore on Saturday and dedicated to Indian-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla who died in Columbia Space Ship disaster.

Releasing the book, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair stressed on the lack of written form of documentation in India -- a reason why science had not been much populariesd. ISRO too is planning many regional language publications so that information on India''s space programme and its plans reaches the masses.<br /><br />Principal information officer of the Press Information Bureau Sahib Singh, director of the publications division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (that has published the book) Umakanth Mishra stressed that Indian science will remain confined to a small audience unless it is retold in the people''s own language. The Ministry will also release on February 1 this year, a biography of Kalpana Chawla in her hometown Karnal, to coincide with her birth anniversary.</div> </div>
